View over Danang.
On the Marble Mountain.
On the Marble Mountain.
In the Marble Mountain.
Pia with guide Ky.
We get up early, we leave at eight o'clock for
Hoi An and we still have to wash our hair, pack, have breakfast and check out of the
Êmm Hotel Hue.
The weather is not good, it's raining.
We are out of the room on time and at breakfast, we put our luggage in front of the
breakfast room, next to some other luggage.
When we go to look a little later, the luggage appears to be gone, after some searching the
suitcases appear to be at the reception.
When checking out we still have to pay, and that turns out to be almost 2 million VND, about
70 Euro for a dinner for two people and quite a few drinks.
Today's guide, Ky, is already waiting; a friendly, sporty man.
The plan is to stop at a national park along the way to take a walk along a few lakes and a
waterfall and to enjoy the view, and that involves quite a bit of climbing.
We decide to take an easier route because of Tom's knee.
As we get closer to the park, the weather remains bad, and there is absolutely nothing to
see from a mountain because of the low-hanging clouds.
After consultation, we skip the national park and now go to
Marble Mountains in Danang.
On the way there we drive, according to the itinerary, on the old road from north to south
over a mountain pass.
Here too, there is little to enjoy the view due to the weather.
In Danang we drive along the coast to the Marble Mountain, and in the area live many people
of the Cham ethnic group who make statues
there.
We stop at a company where these statues are made and of course also sold.
They are beautiful statues but a bit big to take back to the Netherlands.
Pia continues to have problems with her stomach.
To get to the mountain there is a lift and a staircase of a good hundred steps.
We take the lift and at the top the view is beautiful, and there are some nice religious
buildings and caves, and it is raining.
We take the stairs back down, it is quite doable.
In Hoi An we first have lunch in a busy restaurant, Đào
Tiên Restaurant, with tasty food, part of the trip, and then we take a walk through the
old town of Hoi An, nice but very busy in the afternoon.
Finally we go to the hotel, the Ancient House
Resort, where we get a nice spacious room for the next four days.
Pia gets more and more stomach pain and takes some pills.
Tom goes to the restaurant alone to eat something.

We tell what we have done and experienced during a trip and we also tell what we think about it; no more and no less.
This is not a travel guide, nor is it advice to visit a place or not.
There are other sites for that.
Our opinion about places where we have eaten, drunk or slept is not intended as a (positive or negative) assessment,
there are other sites for that.
It is our view of the situation at a certain moment and that view is influenced by our mood,
the weather and many other factors.
